Red Alert

To celebrate the beginning of June we’ve added two new features:

  • Email notifications.
Every time something interesting happens (e.g. new posts on your discussions) on essembly, we’ll send you an email about it. Who defines interesting? Well, you do. Modify your email notifications settings at http://www.essembly.com/edit/notifications. We have a few up for now, but stay tuned for many more.
  • A new login page.
We thought we’d tidy up the welcome mat for new essembly visitors. Although the old login page gave a good sense for the grand vision of essembly (see Joe’s first post, Three Steps), we discovered that most people stare blankly and move along their merry way. The idea behind this new page is to provide a sense of the activity on essembly - a resolve, and passionate discussion on both sides of the debate.

Let us know what you think!

Yeah.. that is cool… but why can’t i post any more resolves?

  2. Chris Says:

You shouldn’t have any problems posting a resolve…the only thing we changed is that you have to add a “topic” to the resolve to make your resolve easier to find by others in the future. For example, if your resolve is:

    Okra is good food.

The topics you might attach are “food” and “okra.”

Make sense? If you still have problems, please email support@essembly.com, or send me a message (http://www.essembly.com/messages/compose?to=1770)

    Chris

just wondering, where does Essembly get the money to run the site anyways?

  4. Martine Says:

The new welcome page looks great! Thanks for the notification options! I’m a huge fan.

  5. Noah Says:

    Ok..do the following:
    1. make a link somewhere on this page to the blog homepage, becuase currently there is no way to navigate there on the page
    2. make the essembly logo in the upper right of the pages always be a link to the homepage!

  6. Chris Chan Says:

Not sure what you mean by the 2nd comment, but we’ll have the first thing fixed real soon.

  7. Andy Eaker Says:

I can’t seem to find an email address were I kind send ideas to. The beta testers group has mentioned the need for an edit button and I could really use it now that something happened with my last post and part of it was truncated leaving only the words you can as my comment on a resolve. this was the resolve over gay marriage should be legal, having no way to post the rest of what I was trying to say nobody will be able to have an informed discussion with me on the topic. Also I thought it would be neat if you guys can add a link to the admin members of a group or if the group holds elections for officers that way you can send a message to them over essembly and know that it is getting to the right person that will deal with the issue.

  8. Chris Chan Says:

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for the suggestions. At this point, beta testers will remain the best forum for posting and discussing ideas; we read them nearly every day and it’s a great way for members to help each other with respect to features that might already exist.

As for your comment about being able to message group members, try clicking on the Members tab of a group’s page. It will display all administrators and officers whom you can email individually.

  9. Harrison Says:

I also have problems posting resolves now. It tells me I havent completed all fields even though I have. (And yes, I’m 100% sure I have).

  10. Chris Says:

    Harrison,

The bug should be fixed now, thanks for your patience! Do let us know if you run into any problems.
