A New Look

Yesterday we made a few changes to the site, and thought you’d like to learn a little more about the thinking that went behind them.

Profile

The profile now features an individual’s full voting history. Think of it as an auto-aggregating blog; a window into what a person is voting or saying on any given day.

Navigation

We’ve switched to a top-based navigation, which gives us quite a bit more room for content. The profile is the first of many pages that demonstrate the power of this new layout, and we look forward to introducing more features that take advantage of this added space in the very near future.

For our loyal users, we thank you for bearing with us during this rather tumultuous change. In the short term, there will be some frustration about where all the buttons and links have gone, but we’re firmly committed to the belief that the long term benefits greatly outweigh these temporary frustrations.

If you have any questions or feedback about the new layout, leave a comment. We’d love to hear your thoughts. Enjoy the new site!

At first I was little disappointed but after a day I started to like it. I really like that people’s profiles are self-aggregating blogs. This was a great idea!

    Peace Out,
    Daryn

    Thanks!

When it comes to making the profile more bloglike, the sky’s the limit - we can add useful features like RSS feeds, displaying what topics a person is most engaged in, and allowing people to comment on profiles in the same way they can comment on resolves.

We’ll be looking to you guys to let us know what you want the most.

I am in the beta group but don’t know how to make suggestions (maybe i just need to look harder). Anyway, it would be nice if Essembly made it easier to know which discussions/posts people have replied to. currently, i have to scroll down throught list and go trial and error. I quick link to responded posts would be awesome.

  4. Michael Schwalbert Says:

Figured out how to post suggestions…now I feel like an idiot.

  5. Chris Says:

Can you go into detail about what made it feel so complicated? You’re not an idiot, we’re just not as clear as we can be with how to do things quite yet.

  6. Michael Schwalbert Says:

I figured there would be some sort of bug report or something. I wasn’t expecting to do suggestions via resolves and discussion threads.

  7. Chris Says:

Just to clarify, bug reports can be sent to support@essembly.com. Feature suggestions, on the other hand, are handled via resolves/discussions so that there can be feedback from the entire community. The reasoning behind this is that you’ll have faster response times, and we can also get a better sense of what the group as a whole wants whenever a suggestion is made.
